TÜRKIYE
In February 2023, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the Karamanmaraş region of Turkey, causing widespread destruction. Motivated to make a difference, I traveled to Turkey and spent 29 days working intensely on the front lines. My main focus was on building houses and creating recreational areas in schools, providing essential structures for the local community.
The experience in Karamanmaraş was both challenging and rewarding. Each completed project reinforced the importance of cooperation and human resilience. Working side by side with other volunteers and witnessing the resilience of the local residents motivated me to persevere.
This ongoing involvement in crisis situations has underscored the importance of preparedness and effective disaster response. With each new mission, I gained more knowledge about organizing and planning relief efforts, always emphasizing the need for a sensitive and people-centered approach.
By sharing these experiences, I hope to inspire others to get involved in volunteering, contributing to immediate relief efforts and helping in the reconstruction and strengthening of communities over time.
